Luxury, privacy…and more space than you’ll know what to do with.

No one needs to know you (or your pets) are here. Built in 2007, this 5100-ft2 Southwestern ranch-style house sits on 1¼ acres in rural northwest Las Vegas, 16 minutes (and a world away) from the excitement of the Strip. The property is extremely private, with a remote-control operated iron gate and full perimeter fence. There’s also a 12-camera security system, which you can access from multiple monitors throughout the house. The living quarters are more than 100′ past the gate, meaning you’ll never hear a passing car.

The main house boasts an enormous, fully private pool and Jacuzzi. The property also has a detached casita/guest house, included in the rental price. There are 2 wireless internet hubs on the property, one in each house, so getting a connection is always fast and easy.

In the main house, the master bedroom includes a king bed and separate en suite his-and-hers bathrooms, each with a tub and a stand-alone shower. (The “his” bathroom also includes a steam shower.) The second bedroom has a fold-out couch and an adjacent bathroom of its own. The gigantic living room includes elegant oversized leather furniture, a fireplace, and an integrated entertainment system with 60″ DirecTV-equipped flat screen, satellite radio, DVD player and more.

Of course, there’s an oversized washer-and-dryer in the main house.

There are 3 litter boxes in the main house and one in the casita. The high perimeter fence and iron gate also make this a perfect place for dogs, who can run themselves silly chasing quail and rabbits all over the property. (Also, all the floors are either veneer-coated concrete or hardwood, with the exception of the carpeted casita bedroom.) The main kitchen is fully equipped and has a beautiful view of the pool, courtyard, casita and mountains. There’s an outdoor barbecue, and you can activate the decorative fire pits with the touch of a button while sitting in the Jacuzzi. You can even get the indoor stereo to play on the outdoor rock speakers.

The casita is a stand-alone house. It includes a master bedroom with queen bed, a living area and two DirecTV-equipped TVs, one with DVD player. The casita kitchen has a full fridge/freezer, oven, stove and microwave. There’s also a study area with desk and library. The main house has indoor parking for 3 vehicles, with room for one more in the casita.

First World Amenities in the Costa Rican Jungle.

All on half an acre, at Roma del Mar. It’s a beautiful new development consisting of 12 villas, away from the touristy areas but right on the Pacific Coast – with 5 gorgeous beaches just 2 minutes’ walk away.

The weather here is perfect, with temperatures around 80° all year long and only a little humidity.

The luxuriously appointed villa is 3800 ft2 and includes 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms plus a powder room, with a luxurious pool and terraces. The kitchen is indulgent – granite and native wood everywhere, with an icemaker, gas range, and every conceivable appliance (including what they call an “American size” fridge, which means “gigantic.”) Water is filtered and tastes great right out of the tap.

The villa also includes a washing machine, internet, air conditioning in every room and fans  – not to mention in-wall speakers, DVDs and a flat-screen TV.

To get to the villa you’ll fly into San Jose in central Costa Rica, drive an hour and 40 minutes to Playa Naranjo and board the ferry. After an hour and 15 minutes you’ll dock in the terminal, 10 minutes from Roma del Mar. If you like, the property managers can pick you up at the terminal and walk you through the villa.

Or you can fly into Liberia, Costa Rica’s Pacific hub. From there you can either drive 2½ hours to Roma del Mar, or we’ll pick you up for $150 round trip.

You can bank and buy groceries in the town of Jicaral, 20 minutes away. Or get fresh fish and shrimp from the local fishermen.

Activities include boat trips to Isla Tortuga, with its white sand and snorkeling. It wouldn’t be Costa Rica without a canopy tour – which includes horseback riding, ziplines and lunch.

Rent a horse. Get a massage, pedicure or manicure. Or hire a cook/maid/babysitter – all for some incredibly affordable prices.

One more thing: watch out for the monkeys. It seems there are a few in every tree.

Throw rocks into the Pacific Ocean from your balcony.

Seriously. (Not that we encourage it.) The 4th-floor balcony sits barely 50 feet from the water, with nothing in between. Which means you’ll enjoy the finest views in Maui, if not all of Hawai’i. If not all of the world.

One whiff of the plumeria blossoms and you’ll know you’ve arrived. The Papakea resort complex sits on the main road immediately north of Ka’anapali Village, on the leeward (an old nautical term meaning “best”) side of Maui. Traffic is light, and the condo is free of congestion and noise – unless you count the sounds of the waves crashing on the beach beneath your bedroom window.

As for the condo itself, it sleeps up to 6 comfortably. There’s a king bed in the master bedroom and a queen bed in the second bedroom, each with an en suite bathroom. The main living area includes a fold-out couch, and there’s a Murphy bed on the second floor. (The small second-floor area features a study with a couch and chairs. The second floor can also serve as an office when you’re not using the Murphy bed. The office area includes a desk and fax machine.)

The kitchen includes a full fridge/freezer, dishwasher and microwave. The adjacent closet has a washer and dryer. There are ceiling and electric fans in every room. There’s no air conditioning, because it’s Hawai’i and it has the most comfortable climate on Earth.

The sunsets seem almost otherworldly, they’re so spectacular. With gorgeous views of Molokai and Lanai. (Not “the lanai”, but Lanai – the actual island.) The old Hawai’ian capital of Lahaina, West Maui’s major town, is just 8 minutes south. 10 minutes north is the world-famous Kapalua resort, home to two golf courses so spectacular that the PGA starts every season there. Kapalua also boasts some of the finest snorkeling and ziplining on the planet.

The Papakea complex includes two huge pools with Jacuzzis, shuffleboard, horseshoes, barbecue pits and more.
